He runs the Shan Fan Triad and is the only authority that has ever rules in the city despite his operations being considered illegal anywhere else. Despite the number of frequent street wars Big Ears Tam stays out of it keeping his lieutenants maneuvering again each other rather than him directly.
As the Big Boss of Shan Fan, he has realized every ambition of men of his ilk. He is wealthy and powerful and has the respect of other violent men. He seems content in keeping what is his, a full time job, with little concern for further endeavors. He seems to enjoy America and has no plans to head back to China.
