Book of Mormon

Bio:

Brigham Young joined the Mormons in Kirkland, OH. He was a quiet man and many had actually considered his to be simple as he misspelled his own name back then. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth, it was Joseph Smith that realized that Young was merely ignorant and was actually quite brilliant. He was quiet because he wound ponder long and deep about ideas that most men would gloss over.

Brigham Young was made the new President after Joesph Smith was martyred. Young decided to move the whole flock westward to find a place where the Latter Day Saints’ could practice without retribution. Upon viewing the Wasatch Front in Utah, he said, ‘This is the place.’ The early years of Salt Lake City were hard years and the Mormons’ survival was in no small part due to Brother Young. The Mormons enjoyed their isolation until the Gold Rush of ’49 where hundreds of would be miners passed through spending money on supplies and other services on their way to California.

With no end in sight for the Civil War, Brigham Young declared the Mormons would govern themselves as the nation of Deseret until the USA and CSA had resolved their conflict. The statement has earned much ire from President Grant who made it clear when he was done with the Confederacy, his next target was Young and his fledgling theocratic nation.

In a partnership with Dr. Darius Hellstromme after his conversion to Mormonism, led Salt Lake City (a.k.a. The City o’ Gloom) to become the most advanced city in the world due to the great industrialist’s knowledge of New Science.
